‘Wordle’ today #1,245 Answer, hints and clues for Friday, November 15
We’re one day away from the weekend and while we might be planning to rest from work, we are not taking a break from our Wordle streak.
The daily word game is owned by The New York Times after it bought the puzzle from its creator, Josh Wardle, in early 2022.
One theory explaining its popularity is that it helps foster a sense of community among its players.
“Wordle’s shareability across various social media platforms fosters a sense of belonging and common ground that can transcend cultures and borders,” linguistics expert and Babbel Live teacher Noël Wolf told Newsweek in October. “Friends and family members who live far apart, or even in different countries, can use it to stay connected.”
The word puzzle also sparks “daily conversations” among players and “offers a daily break from our high-paced lives,” she added.
“The small victories that Wordle provides may also contribute to a feeling of achievement over time. Wordle keeps things simple and interactive, allowing users to learn almost without realizing it,” Wolf said.
How to Play ‘Wordle’
Players must guess a mystery five-letter word—and have to do so in six attempts or less. They are helped along with a color-coded tile system: green meaning they’ve got the letter correct, while yellow shows the letter appears in the word but is in the wrong spot. Finally, a gray tile indicates that the letter does not appear in the word at all.
Wolf said one of the best ways to ensure consistent victories was to incorporate strategic playing into your daily Wordle routine.
“Be strategic with your second guess. As hard as it might seem—especially if you have a few correct letters in your first word—using a completely separate set of letters, where possible, will help eliminate more possibilities in fewer guesses,” she said.
“For example, If your first Wordle guess is ‘crane’ and you discover that C and R are correct, instead of guessing a word like ‘cross,’ try a different word like ‘plumb.’ This will use new letters and explore different vowel placements, increasing your chances of narrowing down the possibilities.”
