Revolutionary Guard commander confirms new operation against Israel
A high-ranking Iranian commander repeated threats of a new military strike against Israel but refrained from sharing details, the Tasnim news agency reported on Sunday.
The news outlet, widely seen as aligned with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, said that Ali Fadavi told reporters in Tehran on Sunday that a new operation would definitely take place. “It is not possible to comment on its details,” he added.
The statement followed similar warnings made on Saturday by Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Iran and Israel have been engaged in escalating hostilities since April when Iran directly attacked Israel for the first time with more than 300 drones and missiles.
This had been preceded by an attack attributed to Israel on a building of the Iranian embassy in the Syrian capital Damascus, in which two Iranian generals had been killed. Iran’s leadership interpreted this as an attack on Iranian territory.
