Rachael Ray revealed personal details about her life at home and her “hot tempered” relationship with her husband, John Cusimano, on an episode of her new podcast.
Ray, 56, was accompanied by actress Jenny Mollen on the premiere episode of I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead, which premiered on Tuesday, October 22. In the podcast, the celebrity cook delved into the details of her home life, recent health issues, and the heated relationship she has with her husband.
“It’s very hard, especially for hot-tempered or creative or vociferous loud people to be able to just calm it down. John and I don’t calm it down ever. We have huge screaming matches all the time, but I think that’s healthy. I really do. And I don’t trust people that are too quiet,” the host admitted to Mollen. She later added, “Too quiet freaks me out, I prefer that you tell me what you think when you think it, and let’s just get it all out there.”
The New York native later explained that despite their frequent arguments, she and Cusimano, 57, found their own way of reconciling, saying, “Eventually I pat him on his a** or he kisses me on the head, and that’s just sort of it. That’s the apology. It’s just sort of understood. ‘I still like your a**.’ ‘I still like your head.’ It’s kind of in that zone.”
This comes amid concerns for Ray’s health as a recent video posted on the Food Network star’s Instagram on September 2, raised concerns about her health and wellbeing as she appeared to be slurring her words. A number of fans pointed out that Ray looked “puffy,” but the star has yet to comment on the matter.
Ray and Cusimano first met at a mutual friend’s birthday party in 2001 where they hit it off. After years of dating, the two got married in Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy, on September 24, 2005. After nearly 20 years together, the couple have not welcomed any children of their own and previously shared that they split their time living between the Italian countryside and their home in Lake Luzerne, New York.
