Newsweek is back for another day of the best Connections clues to keep your winning streak going.

Since its debut in The New York Times in June 2023, Connections has quickly built a large following. The puzzle challenges players to group words based on subtle links, combining logic with language skills. Today, it ranks as the Times‘ second-most popular game, just after Wordle.

It is edited by Wyna Liu who told Newsweek in June that one of her tips for playing the game is to remain patient and not “rage solve” by quickly putting in your answers.

How to Play Connections

Players are given a table of 16 words. These are split into four groups of four based on common characteristics and placed into categories. The categories vary in difficulty from yellow to green to blue to purple, with yellow considered the easiest category and purple considered the trickiest.

For example, a recent game linked the words “braid,” “bun,” “pony” and “twist” under the category “Ways to wear your hair up.” This was a blue category.

Once you’ve selected four words, you click the “Submit” button. If your choices are correct, they’ll appear in the category color and disappear from the grid. If they are incorrect, however, they will remain gray in color and stay on the board.

If you’re stuck, try selecting the “Shuffle” button to move the words to a different place on the grid.

Keep scrolling for tips on today’s Connections but be warned. The answers for the puzzle will be revealed at the bottom of the page. So, if you would rather avoid spoilers, we advise you to move down the page with caution.
