Klarna launches new tech hub in Poland

BNPL player Klarna has established a new technology hub in Warsaw, Poland.

This move represents an investment in the company’s global technology infrastructure and highlights Poland’s growing importance in the European innovation sector.

With a consumer base exceeding 85 million and partnerships with over 600,000 merchants worldwide, Klarna has maintained a presence in Poland since 2021.

The company recently also collaborated with payment platforms such as Apple Pay and Google Pay, alongside a long-standing partnership with OpenAI.

It is said that OpenAI has acknowledged Klarna’s use of AI to enhance customer experiences.

Klarna will recruit over 100 engineers in Poland by 2025, providing local talent with opportunities to work on the AI innovation without the need to relocate.

Warsaw’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector and startup ecosystem have attracted international attention, said that the city becoming a hub for tech investments.

Currently, over nine out of ten Klarna staff utilise AI in their roles across various operational areas, including customer service, marketing, and product development.

It is part of Klarna’s long-term investment in Poland’s potential as a centre for fintech innovation.

Klarna CEO and co-founder Sebastian Siemiatkowski said: “Poland is Europe’s next tech powerhouse. Warsaw’s exceptional engineering talent, thriving startup scene, and strategic location make it the perfect choice for our new tech hub.

“This isn’t just about Klarna’s growth—it’s about unlocking Poland’s potential on the global stage. As someone with Polish roots, I’m excited to see Klarna deepen its connection with this dynamic community and shape the future of AI-powered commerce together.”

Recently, Klarna reached a global agreement with Lenovo.

This collaboration enables consumers in 15 European nations to utilise Klarna’s payment solutions, including interest-free BNPL options, for their technology purchases on Lenovo.com.
