Juvenile suffers serious injuries after being struck by vehicle in Maywood

A juvenile suffered serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle while walking in Maywood on Thursday night, authorities said.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Maywood police were investigating the serious crash that happened around 5:30 p.m. on Maywood Avenue, between Taplin and Thoma avenues, said Jeff Angermeyer, deputy chief of detectives for the prosecutor’s office.

The pedestrian was taken to an area hospital. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene.

The Bergen County Fatal Accident Investigation Unit Task Force was called to the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
