Woman’s body found by passerby in wooded Roswell area. Now it’s under investigation as homicide

On Tuesday afternoon, a passerby found a woman’s body in a wooded part of Roswell. Now police are investigating it as a homicide.

The Roswell Police Department said the body was found near the roadway on Azalea Drie near Atlanta Street around 3:15 p.m.

Police and the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene and began a death investigation, but on Christmas morning, police said the death was now part of a homicide investigation.

Roswell police told Channel 2 Action News that further investigation of the woman’s death showed she had suffered at least one gunshot wound.

Detectives said they do not believe the victim was killed where her body was found and are now actively working to find the original crime scene and find those responsible.

The ME’s office will be working to determine an official cause and manner of death, police said. Channel 2 Action News has reached out to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office for more information on the victim.
